Resources

Here you will find various resources for further study of the Faith and to supplement the information given in the books used in Father Hardon’s Catechism Courses.  Also included are updates to the courses which His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke periodically completes. Cardinal Burke’s articles and presentations to the Marian Catechist Apostolate are also available here.

The sacred artwork below is available for you to copy and use.

  • Simeon and Stella Maris are both in public domain.
  • The Marian Catechist Apostolate commissioned artist Michael LaVoy to create the pencil drawings of the graces received from the Holy Eucharist, specifically, for you to download, print and use in your teaching on the Holy Eucharist. The prints illustrate graphically what Father Hardon is speaking about in his article, “The Holy Eucharist-the Triple Sacrament, the Triple Source of Grace.”

Simeon – “Lord now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace.”  This depicts Simeon holding the infant Christ, looked over by Mary and Joseph at the Temple in Jerusalem.

An antique engraving by James John Chant (British, 1819-circa 1883) published by George Stinson & Co. of Portland Maine after an early painting by William Charles Thomas Dobson (German, 1817-1898), R.A.

Stella Maris-Our Lady, Star of the Sea. Stella Maris is a popular name for Polaris, the Pole Star, which has been used since ancient times for celestial navigation, but the artist’s principal reference here is to its use as a traditional synonym for the Blessed Virgin Mary. The wrecked mariners clinging on to the rigging have been joined by a vision of the Virgin Mary, who bears the infant Jesus in her arms.

The artist is Virginie Demont-Breton (1859–1935). This print of Stella Maris (1894) is one of her many paintings using maritime motifs, which she developed after she moved to seaside Wissant (white sand), France.
